Although I don't typically work in the realm of figurative ceramics, I do make objects that relate bodies and figures. I like to think of it as a kind of "social sculpture," where the materials of the sculpture are the objects I make, and ways that the audience ultimately decides to use it. So, I was quite excited to be included in show of figurative work.

For "Using Erik Scollon" I made a series of cups, that when assembled, form a self portrait. Visitors to the gallery were invited to take a cup with them if they agreed to create and upload a :30 second youtube video of the cup in use. All videos should be titled "Using Erik Scollon." Cups will be distributed through out the run of the show at two or three per day.

Once the video "score" of how the object is to be used is uploaded, the collaborators may request a certificate of authenticity that officially sanctions our collaboration as a work of art. Undocumented and uncertified objects are not considered "official works of art."
